Yesterday was Day 3 of wearing the same dress and sporting a brightly colored pin that prompts individuals to inquire about it. I walked into the business office of Mount Mary College to pay my tuition and the place was empty except for the woman tucked back in a separated room munching on a bagel. She took my check, and it wasn't until I was about to walk out the door that she said, "So what's Day 3 mean?" I was excited at the opportunity to share a little bit about modern-day slavery and human trafficking. She hadn't heard of modern-day slavery, but was familiar with the phrase, "human trafficking". In fact, the next words out of her mouth were, "Have you heard about Untold Stories?" Although I am a graduate student at Mount Mary, I don't often check the calendar of events. Maybe I should. Untold Stories: Fueling Social Change for Survivors of Human Trafficking and Sexual Violence is a special event taking place at Mount Mary in March that focuses on how creativity fuels social change for survivors of trafficking and sexual violence. If haven't already, click on the link above for dates/times.
Interestingly enough, by wearing a pin to help educate others about human trafficking, I am given the opportunity to be more even more educated! Hope to see you there.

I got to share some thoughts about slavery and trafficking with my friend, Nicole, tonight. I'm thankful for her curiosity and her genuine interest in my life.
